About Us

The Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) is a research infrastructure facility established under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy.

ANFF has eight nodes distributed across Australia, which combined, are filled with over $200 million of investment in tooling, infrastructure and people.

The South Australian node of ANFF-SA offers access to more than $10 million of equipment and technical excellence in design, fabrication, and testing of micro-scale devices. The facility’s strengths include lab-on-a-chip technology, micro/nanofluidics, advanced sensing, functional coatings, and separation science.

ANFF-SA houses state-of-the-art photolithography, micromachining, hot embossing and bonding, micro-injection moulding, plasma etching, thin film coating, fluidic simulation, and advanced characterisation in ISO Class 5 & 6 clean room environments.

Co-located at the University of South Australia and Flinders University, ANFF-SA offers extensive materials and surface spectroscopy capabilities and, where research or process development is required, ANFF-SA can facilitate scientific expertise locally or arrange access to ANFF sites at 17 other universities around Australia.

ANFF-SA's facilities are open to industry and academic users and surface structures and patterns, channel designs, and chemical functionality can be tailored to your needs, through access or partnership with ANFF-SA's technical staff.

Our professional technical staff are experienced working with confidential information and sensitive project material and able to deliver high-quality devices and samples on time and within budget.

The South Australian node offers capabilities, expertise, and opportunities to collaborate with affiliated staff in the fields of:

  • Micro/nanofluidics

  • Surface chemistry

  • Surface structuring (etching, molding, embossing)

  • Thin film deposition

  • Surface spectroscopy

  • X-ray micro/nanotomography (volumetric analysis)

ANFF-SA offers professional training on cutting-edge equipment housed in world-class facilities to enable you to develop your ideas, create prototypes and characterise the outcomes or you can engage our expertise to perform research on your behalf.

Either way, ANFF-SA can elevate your research and development to the next level, with better designs, shorter development iteration cycles, and expert training and advice.
